Assorted cupcake charms

Cupcake_charms_ijIf you've never squealed in delight before, then kindly pass out earplugs to those around you and take a look at the buffet of cupcake charms at Inedible Jewelry.

Not counting the two "flavors" that are currently out of stock (silver anniversary and chocolate squiggle bite), there are 25 nicely detailed polymer clay cupcake varieties to choose from. They may not be the most exquisitely done miniature cupcakes out there, but they're still quite cute (especially when you see the entire spread at once) and are priced at only $6 apiece.

For an additional charge, the charms can also be strung onto silver chains and bracelet, beaded necklaces and bracelets, and ribbons or turned into several styles of earrings.

Multicolor cupcake bracelet for children

Cupcake_multicolor_bracelet_targetWhen I was a kid, our elementary-school fashion sense was largely determined by the number and variety of bracelets covering our wrists and forearms. We made friendship bracelets, bought those crazy slap-on bracelets, and came up with different ways to intertwine the solid black rubber bracelets with clear glittery ones.

Long gone are those innocent days of '80s jewelry.

Since today's 7- and 8-year-olds are flashing Tiffany bracelets while talking on their cell phones, the Children's Cupcake Multicolor Bracelet ($16.99) from Target must be aimed at younger kids. Pastel cupcakes sprinkled with a trio of sparkling rhinestones and strung together on a silver bracelet could probably still thrill a 6-year-old. A 6.5-year-old, on the other hand, wouldn't tolerate it for a second.

Glass cupcake earrings

Glass_cupcake_earrings_rjProof that Herry Monster from Sesame Street was on to something with his impromptu "Two Heads Are Better Than One" song from way back when are these amazing lampwork cupcake earrings handmade by glass artist Lezlie Belanger and assembled and sold by RockerJewlz. Not that Herry has ever done anything to make me doubt him, of course, but seeing these Pink Lemonade Cupcake Earrings ($35) certainly restores my faith in the power of teamwork. Each 0.55" glass bead is individually made by Belanger and then sent to Rocker, who flanks the cupcake with Swarovski crystals and secures it to a sterling silver hook earring.

Brought to you by the letters C-O-O-P-E-R-A-T-I-O-N. (I know the letter "O" is in there three times, but I can't have my little nieces thinking "coperatin" is a word.)

Vanilla cupcake stud earrings

Cupcake_studs_ieI'm no math whiz but I believe I've just solved an equation that much of the cupcake world swears by: vanilla + sprinkles = birthday. Long before I applied for membership and cracked the code, cupcake folk deemed the candle (which I've always considered to be the quintessential birthday symbol) completely unnecessary in the annual celebration.

Case in point: these birthday vanilla cupcake studs from Inedible Jewelry. Available with either surgical steel or sterling silver posts, the $18 cupcake earrings are outfitted with vanilla frosting, multicolored sprinkles, and a cherry (the variable, I guess). See?

Tiffany cupcake charm topped with sapphires

Tiffany_cupcake_charmWhile the casual fan wears cupcake jewelry made from polymer clay and sterling silver, the die-hard gal with deep pockets adorns herself with 18K white and yellow gold, pink and blue sapphires, and tsavorite garnets whipped into cupcake form by none other than Tiffany & Co.

Yes, Tiffany makes cupcake jewelry.

Actually, they only make this $1250 cupcake charm and offer to dangle it from an 18K  chain (+$150), gold bracelet (+$1400), or clasp necklace (+$2500). And I wanted a platinum cupcake.

Cupcake bunny necklace

Cupcake_bunny_charmSince the Easter Bunny only gets one day to bask in the spotlight per year, you may want to keep this cupcake bunny necklace ($30) on your dresser when you head out for egg-hunting tomorrow.

I know it's tough to part from a Pokemon-esque bunny either popping out of or wearing (I can't tell which) an iridescently frosted cupcake, especially when the 16" sterling silver it hangs from compliments your Easter dress, but it just wouldn't be fair to Mr. Bunny. You can wear any of the five flavors of cupcake bunnies (photo below) during the rest of the year; Mr. B holes up on those days.

Cupcake charm bracelet

Cupcake_charm_bracelet_asProving that you can never have too much of a good thing is this whimsical cupcake charm bracelet created by Amy Secrest, whose doughnut earrings you may have seen a few days ago on Doughnut Bites.

From the sterling silver bracelet hangs ten pairs of handmade cupcake varieties accented with pink Swarovski crystal beads. So what we have here are twenty—yes, twenty!—covetable cupcakes swinging from a 7.5" (8.5" with extender) chain that wants nothing more than to be wrapped around your wrist.

Take a look at some additional pictures below to decide whether you've got $60 to spare.

Adjustable cupcake ring made with glass beads

Cupcake_ring_bdIf you're looking for a little piece of funky jewelry for someone who loves cupcakes but don't want to ruin the surprise by asking for her ring size (or spend a fortune), then this silver-plated adjustable cupcake ring from Bonnin Designs may be the perfect fit.

The centerpiece of the $20 ring is a glass-bead cupcake measuring 0.5" in diameter and topped with a Swarovski crystal "cherry." In addition to pink, the one-size-fits-all adornment comes in yellow and white (see photos below).

Johnny Cupcakes sterling silver dogtag

Johnny_cupcakes_dogtagJohnny Cupcakes may be best known for their "collectible, limited, wearable art" T-shirt line, but my favorite item featuring the company's cupcake-y take on the classic skull and crossbones logo is this sterling silver dogtag. The 1" x 2" tag is sold out at the moment, but as soon as it's in stock again (if ever), I'm handing over my $145.

Check out all the other accessories and apparel at the Johnny Cupcakes e-shop or walk into one of their retail locations in Massachusetts.

Glass cupcake charms

Cupcake_charm_ihottoiHotto has been selling its sweet cupcake charms for several years and is clearly of the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" mindset. Fashioned out of glass, beads, and sterling silver, the only element of the fanciful jewelry that seems to have changed over the years is the price.

But only marginally. Currently on sale through Etsy for $35 each, the chocolate and vanilla cupcakes used to fly off shelves for $30 back in 2005. Even a gallon of milk at the grocery store has seen a bigger markup than that!

For one-of-a-kind handmade cupcakes that last a lifetime, even a dozen would still be a bargain.

Silver cupcake charm hangs with cool treats

Cupcake_charm_lfIt may not be the focal point of the 18" silver-plated necklace, but this charming cupcake still holds an important spot to all who love dessert enough to wear it around their necks.

The 1.25" triple-scoop ice cream cone, topped with a sparkling pink crystal cherry, is obviously the star of the charm, but at least the cupcake has sprinkles, a ridged liner, and a cherry of its own. It definitely outshines that vanilla popsicle on the left!

When not sold out, the necklace sells for $20 at Trendy Stars.

Handcrafted by PNUT Jewelry's Rusty Pistachio, the ring can be cast in 14K yellow or white gold ($725) and even bedecked with diamonds ($1575).

Available now in sizes 3.5 to 14.
