I don't know when pink-and-brown became the new pink-and-gray (remember the 80s?), but I've been seeing a lot of it lately. More so than ever before really, though I suppose that's what happens when you run a site about cupcakes and other inedible sweets.

Canvas cupcake tote

I have no idea why, but I kind of want to put a three-ring binder, some folders, and a bunch of papers into this cupcake tote bag. Something about the cupcake appliqué, cream-colored lining, and pink accents dressing up the brown 10.5" x 9.5" x 3" reminds me of something a preschool teacher would use. And yes, why I associate binders and papers with preschool teachers will be the subject for the next time I find myself seated before a therapist.

Vinyl cupcake wristlet

Maybe it's just me, but the pink top of the vinyl cupcake patch sewn onto this zippered wristlet reminds me of either a pink cloud from a Super Mario Bros. video game or a cartoon depiction of a happy albeit chewed-up wad of bubble gum.

I think it's the smiling face that throws me off. It's cute and sweet, to be sure, but I keep expecting to see a large sneaker threatening to smoosh it into the pavement.

Shimmering cupcake purse for kids

UK-based Lucy Locket specializes in all things fairy and princess, so it's no wonder that this bejeweled cupcake purse dangling from a string of pink faux pearls is part of their catalog.

For just £5.95 (about $12) from Kiddymania, your little fairy princess gets not just a satiny place to carry all of her favorite things but also a healthy serving of individuality. One look at this purse and she won't ever want to wave around a cheap plastic wand again.

There's no indication of what kind of closure the bag has, but I'm thinking zippers.

Hello Kitty cupcake tote bag

Okay, so this is wrong on a number of levels.

First, those are Hello Kitty heads masquerading as cupcakes. Heads. Regardless of anyone's personal feelings about the ubiquitous feline, no one should be eating cat heads as dessert, let alone parading them all over town while shopping.

Second, the 15" x 3" x 14" tote is blue with fuchsia lining. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it against Sanrio law for anything bearing its bread-and-butter's face not to be pink, both inside and out?

And third, it's "completely sold out" over at Hot Topic, which had previously slashed the $20 original price in half. That's right. The bag was only $10 and it's not available anymore. So wrong!
